Ideas for America: Put a Cap on Capitalism

Since 2003 Major League baseball has instituted a luxury tax to discourage high payroll and create a better competitive balance. How can we create this balance in America without it being construed as Socialism? I purpose a cap on capitalism. A simple formula to encourage a fair payroll balance.

The formula goes like this: the highest payed employee cannot make more than a 1000 times more than the lowest payed employee. An employee making more than 1000 times the lowest paid employee will be taxed 75% on every dollar that exceeds the limit. An example of this would be a company with the lowest paid employee making 30,000 a year would have a CEO capped at 30 million dollars a year. (Bonuses are included in this formula) This formula is fair and will encourage CEO's who want to make more to pay more. All tax proceeds from this "Cap Tax" could go towards education and social services. The funds would assist lower paid americans with getting medical insurance and pursuing higher education.

THE COMMUNITY KITCHEN SERVES UP NUTRITIOUS MEALS FOR ALL; ACCEPTS BOTH CASH & VOLUNTEER HOURS AS PAYMENT Joined by local dignitaries, individuals and partnering local non-profit organizations, Jon thanked the Kitchen’s “friends and neighbors” who have assisted in the two-year endeavor to open the permanent location - among them Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna, former Mayor Ed McKenna and the President of the Parker Family Health Center, Dr. Eugene Cheslock.
The JBJ Soul Kitchen began serving meals in 2009, utilizing two different pilot locations and assessing the patrons’ needs and response to the model, before renovating an old 1,100 square foot auto-body shop as the Kitchen’s new, permanent location.
“At a time when 1 in 5 households are living at or below the poverty level, and at a time when 1 out of 6 Americans are food insecure, this is a restaurant whose time has come. This is a place based on and built on community – by and for the community,” said Jon Bon Jovi today.
Inspired by the old adage, “teach a man to fish,” diners in need who come to the Soul Kitchen are empowered – they have earned a seat at the table for themselves and their families through volunteer hours at the Kitchen or other local organizations. They are served nutritious culinary dishes by the wait-staff in a lovely restaurant atmosphere with the dignity of having earned their meal. On the other hand, patrons who can afford to dine anywhere are rewarded with not only a delicious meal but with the knowledge that by dining out and leaving the suggested donation, they’ve contributed to their community.
In addition to the Soul Kitchen’s own organic gardens, natural food is being provided by Whole Foods Market Middletown, in partnership with their vendors, many of whom are from New Jersey and the surrounding areas.
By adopting the community kitchen concept, the JBJ Soul Foundation has expanded its efforts - from affordable housing to hunger - as it celebrates its fifth anniversary as a non-profit organization.

Occupy Hollywood: Protest's Officially Sell Out

Now celebrities such as Kanye West and Russell Simmons have joined the Wall Street protesters. Some of the protesters should remind these men, that they are the 1%, they are part of the problem. The celebration of wealth in this country by the media  should be a major talking point for the protesters. But instead welcomed to the protest are some of the biggest contributors. Like Russell Simmons who has shown off his riches on television shows like "Cribs" or the delusional, egotistical Kanye West who writes songs about walking with Jesus while wearing  millions of dollars worth of jewelry. A man who probably believes he will be welcomed into heaven for his contributions to hip hop. His greed and ego are second to none. If one thing could come from these protests maybe it can be a change in our priorities. We as a society should hold our rich accountable for their greed, not try to snap a picture of them. We know Russell Simmons and Kanye West make a lot of money but do we know what percentage of their earnings and time they give back to help society. Kanye West and Russell Simmons are the perfect examples of greed in this country yet the protesters welcome them with open arms, blinded by their celebrity. This is not to say the rich should not be invited to the protest. There are plenty of wealthy people who contribute to the betterment of our society. Simmons and West are not prime examples.

Blinded by the 'bling" the rich have gotten in, infiltrated the protest, the rich and famous hanging with the homeless but only cause its the cool thing to do. Next week expect to see Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood live from the protests. Occupy Wall Street has officially sold out, now that didn't take long did it.
